Did you know ?
European beef and African zebu are the two main species of domesticated cattle. They share a common ancestor in the mighty aurochs, hunted by humans since time immemorial.
The beef was initially considered a sacred animal for sacrificial rituals during which we enacted the symbolic death of the Moon goddess. During the ceremony, the beef proudly stood with his lyre-shaped horns awaiting his fate. Then, with the advent of agriculture, he became a symbol of fertility.
Beef is a red meat that contains high amounts of iron. This mineral helps to fix oxygen within the red blood cells and stores oxygen in the muscles.
