Did you know ?
Humans began to domesticate pears nearly 7000 years ago in China. The Greeks must have fancied them as Homer once declared they were a gift from the gods. In Rome, they were one of the favorite fruits as they were consumed fresh, raw or dried. Today there are more than 2,000 varieties of pears of which only ten or so reach our grocery shelves.
Pears contain copper, a mineral that has a vital role in our body. Indeed, copper allows iron to bind to molecules thus enabling blood flow.
